Throughout the year, the Athens Hospitality H.E.R.O.E.S. (Hospitality Employees Recognition of Excellent Service) Awards program recognizes front-line employees in the local Athens hospitality industry who exceed normal expectations and requirements to provide excellent service to Athens-Clarke County visitors and residents. These individual employees represent their employers and Athens as ambassadors of outstanding service. Each May during National Travel and Tourism Week, the Hospitality H.E.R.O.E.S. of the Year Award is presented to one outstanding front-line employee. The prize is a "Be a Tourist in Your Own Town" package, typically worth several hundred dollars.
