University of Georgia

The University of Georgia is the nation's first state-chartered university (1785).  Its campus spans both the centuries and much of Athens-Clarke County's geography, from historic North Campus now in its third century to state-of-the art research, cultural, and sports facilities to the south and east.  An efficient bus system connects this sprawling campus and is free and open for use by visitors.  Parking is extremely limited on campus; look for parking decks along the edge of campus.

The University of Georgia Visitors Center offers complete campus information, maps and self-guided tours in addition to free guided tours several times daily.  Tour reservations are recommended.
