The 34th Annual Athens Twilight weekend is a professional cycling event and festival fun for fans, families, and racers.  Founded in 1980 by Gene Dixon, the Athens Twilight Criterium was the first nighttime race in the United States in over 60 years. What began as one race with 40 competitors has since grown to offer eight separate race classes and 150 cyclists competing, including in the Criteriums through downtown Athens, 80 KM for the pro men and 40 KM for the Pro women.

Friday's kickoff features Twilight Music, the Twilight Expo and Food Court, and the Grid Qualifiers presented by Georgia Cycle Sport, which lets you get up-close-and-personal with your favorite professional rider as they battle it out Friday night for coveted starting places in America's best criterium. Of course, Saturday night is the main event: The Terrapin Twilight Criterium. More than 30,000 fans pack the cozy confines of downtown Athens every year to witness the best in American criterium racing.

In addition to the professional criterium racing, there will also be amateur category racing, a 5k run, a BMX Jam and the Gambler participation bike ride, among many other events.

A new addition to Twilight Weekend is the Twilight Americana Music Festival, returning for its 6th year but first in partnership with Twilight. Twilight Americana will provide some of the region's best in folk, bluegrass, and country music at local venues and an outdoor stage.

Please visit the Athens Twilight website for information on all festivities and events.
