Let the professional staff at the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) assist in all aspects of planning your meeting. In an effort to provide you with the facilities you need at the time you desire them, the Athens CVB works in partnership with all Athens-Clarke County facilities, ensuring a vast bank of resources. Entertainment
From local original and cover bands to top national recording artists, the Athens CVB can connect you with the local talent we're known for worldwide. The CVB is ready to assist you with selecting just the right entertainment, contract negotiation, and settlement. Check entertainment off your list of concerns and be ready to reap the rewards that only-in-Athens live music can bring to your event!
Bid Packet
The Athens CVB will send you a customized proposal packet with hotel and meeting room rates and availability for your choice dates, letters of invitation, and suggested activities.
Bid Presentation
An Athens CVB representative can attend your decision-making meeting to present information on Athens and answer any questions your group may have. Videos, power point presentations, and Athens trivia with prize giveaways are just a few of the ways the Athens CVB can inform your site-selection committee about the city and prepare them to make an informed decision.
Catering, Banquets
We will send a list of approved professionals including florists and caterers. From southern standards to cosmopolitan chic, Athens has something for every palate.
Extracurricular Activities
The Athens CVB can help you organize memorable events including golf, softball or tennis tournaments, conference discounts with downtown merchants, theatre group rates, off-site parties and receptions, or group outings to UGA sporting events and cultural performances.
Spouse and Children's Activities
Special programs, luncheons, shopping outings, tours, movies and events can be arranged for individuals who are not attending meeting sessions. Sandy Creek Nature Center, the Athens Skate Park and one of Georgia's largest community playgrounds are just a few of the area attractions for children of all ages. Interactive tours of The State Botanical Gardens, a behind-the-scenes UGA sports tour, The Georgia Museum of Art and a trip to a local coffee roaster keep attendees and guests active throughout the conference.
Tours for Attendees and Guests
Many tour options, including the Tour of Historic Athens, Inside the Artist' s Studio Tour, Downtown Walking Tour, Music History Tour and the Tour of Historic Interiors are available for attendees and guests. The CVB will assist with transportation and tour guide arrangements.
Transportation Services
The CVB can provide contacts for transportation services in the Athens area to and from the Atlanta Airport. We can assist in making shuttle arrangements between area hotels and meeting facilities.
Advance Publicity
A CVB staff member can attend your convention the preceding year to promote your Athens meeting. Athens information brochures can be supplied as a part of pre-convention mailings. Images, video tapes, and press kits are available for use in your publications to help heighten interest and attract attendees.
Welcome Table / Information Booth and Volunteers
Brochures on local attractions, dining and entertainment options and other information will be available during your conference. The table will be staffed by our volunteers. Volunteers are also available to assist with on-site registration or to greet guests.
Special Group Discounts/Attendee Appreciation
The Athens CVB has compiled a list of businesses that provide discounts on products and services to convention attendees. Local merchants can welcome your group with signage to make your attendees feel right at home.
