Sandy Creek Nature Center is presenting a special exhibit honoring the work of the late Dr. Eugene Odum known as the father of modern ecology. The exhibit is located in the ENSAT Building and continues through the winter. The exhibit features information regarding Dr. Odom, his life and career, and a special display highlighting ecological concepts.

Dr. Odom was a longtime member of Sandy Creek Nature Center and authored Fundamentals of Ecology in 1953 which in turn lead to a huge change in the way scientists studied nature in terms of ecosystems. The book highlighted that humans are a part of the interconnectivity of the natural world and not apart from it.

Citizens can learn more about Dr. Odum and how to observe the world with an ecological eye by the new exhibit. Several of Dr. Odum's personal books and scientific tools are on display, as well. The exhibit is open to the public during regular hours of operation, Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
