Family Day at the Lamar Dodd School of Art: Spring Festival

Sandy Creek Nature Center will host a family program titled Nature's Trading Post on Saturday, March 20 from 11:00 a.m. - Noon. at the ENSAT Center.

Do you love collecting objects you have found in nature? Do you want to learn more about what you have found? Join us for Nature's Trading Post. You can trade the one or two objects found in nature for points or other natural objects in the nature center's collection.

Deer Neighbors Program

Sandy Creek Park invites citizens to join Lindsay Thomas, Jr. with Quality Deer Management Association and learn about living with Suburban deer, an overview of the benefits and problems associated with deer in a suburban setting and how to deal with problems like deer/car collisions, and damage to landscapes and gardens.

Deer Neighbors is scheduled for Saturday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Sandy Creek Park at 400 Bob Holman Road.

Panther Creek Falls Hiking Classes

Haven't forgot about those New Year's resolutions, yet, have you? Join the trained staff at Sandy Creek Park on a gorgeous 7-mile day hike to Panther Creek Falls in North Georgia. Transportation will be provided from the park, but please bring a sack lunch. All participants need to bring a full water bottle and wear good sturdy hiking shoes. Be prepared for the weather.

JR130: The Life and Legacy of Jeannette Rankin

The Athens-based Jeannette Rankin Foundation celebrates the first woman elected to Congress's legacy through a series of events in March. Rankin was elected to Congress in 1916 and 1940. Although she is perhaps best remembered for her votes against entering World War I and World War II, Rankin was also an advocate for women's and children's rights and was founding vice president of the American Civil Liberties Union.
