Shake off your cabin fever because temperatures are rising and winter has officially come to a close! What better way to celebrate the start of spring than getting out and enjoying the great outdoors? Thankfully Athens, GA has plenty of spring outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy. It doesn't matter if you're an adrenaline junkie or casual stroller, Athens has everything you need to start your spring out on the right foot.
Kayak the Broad River
Kayak, canoe, or camp along the Broad River through Broad River Outpost or Big Dogs on the River. If you're feeling adventurous I recommended kayaking the white water class II rapids, don't worry no experience is necessary, but a basic athletic ability is recommended. If you'd rather just relax then take the scenic float path, which can be done on both a kayak or canoe. An added bonus? Pets are encouraged, so bring your furry friends along for the ride!
UGA Challenge Course
Gather a group and make a reservation to complete the UGA Challenge Course! There is an indoor and outdoor location, and both high and low courses. No matter which course your group chooses to embark on, you will foster a sense of community, improve your communication skills, expand your comfort zone by taking risks, and strengthen the bonds of friendship and support.
Get Scuba Certified
Has going scuba diving always been on your bucket list? Then now's the time to make your dream reality! The Dolphin Dive Center offers a variety of SCUBA classes including Certification Courses, Advanced Open Water courses, Stress and Rescue, and much more. They also organize a variety of diving trips to Aruba, Bermuda, The Keys, and more exciting and exotic locations!
Bike the Antebellum Trail
Experience the southern charm and beautiful scenic routes of the Antebellum Trial Bicycle Route which spans 170 miles through Georgia's most beautiful Antebellum Towns. Along the way, take time to stop and visit each community and truly take in the local flare. Embarking on this experience is sure to be the adventure of a lifetime!
