The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services, Lyndon House Arts Center and Lyndon House Arts Foundation are hosting this year's Harvest Festival on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 9:30am to 1:00pm at the Lyndon House Arts Center.  This event is open to all elementary students in Northeast Georgia.  Included are arts and crafts, traditions and histories of the 1800 – 1900’s, using the Ware-Lyndon Historic House Museum, c. 1850, as our inspiration.  Included will be demonstrations of what life was like in this period including candle making, soap making, blacksmithing, wool spinning and more.  Our partners, Sandy Creek Nature Center, and UGA Extension bring animals to visit with and we have special guest story tellers and musicians this year.
The Harvest Festival is an excellent way for students to experience first-hand some of Georgia's history.  We continue to provide this festival free of charge because we believe it is important for the youth of today to have a hands-on opportunity to learn about local history and traditions.  Please call to register 706.613.3623
