28th annual Insectival

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia will turn into a creepy-crawly cornucopia of creatures during the 28th annual Insect-ival on Saturday, September 28.  Families will enjoy discovery stations, roach and beetle races, an insect café, puppet show and lots of live insects. These creepy creatures are not the only insects joining the festivities. LatinxFest

In honor of Latin Heritage month, Athens will have a celebration infused with Latin American culture. The 10th annual LatinxFest will take place on Saturday, September 28. Through various creative and artistic activities, members of the Ad Hoc Planning Committee will provide a cultural experience that is unforgettable. WildWood Revival

Wildwood Revival is a 3-day intimate, thoughtfully curated boutique festival, occurring September 27 -29, tailored towards a truly unique music and cultural experience for all that takes place on the outskirts of Athens on a historic 30-acres farm. Combining the soul of a juke joint, the wild spirit of a honky-tonk and the camaraderie of a supper club is a cultural revival. Not only will there be live music, but also an artisan market featuring vintage clothing, antiques, woodwork and much more. October 2019 Events

North Georgia Folk Festival

This year will mark the 35th annual North Georgia Folk Festival. This fun-filled, family-friendly event, in Sandy Creek park, offers children’s activities, traditional arts and crafts demonstration and sales, and food. The highlight, of course, is a full day of folk and American music on Saturday, October 12.  Children under the age of 12 may attend for free—general admission tickets are $15. UGA Homecoming Parade

Come out and celebrate the annual UGA Homecoming Parade led by the spectacular Redcoat Marching Band with appearances by the UGA cheerleaders, athletes, and other university and Athens dignitaries on Friday, October 18. In typical parade fashion, there will be an abundance of ornate floats and displays, made by students and faculty, going down the street in downtown Athens. In addition to the parade, a variety of other events will be taking place for homecoming weekend. Numerous alumni reunions and tailgates will be held as well as a carnival and a concert! Wild Rumpus Parade and Spectacle

The Wild Rumpus Parade and Spectacle will take over the heart of Athens October 25 – 26. This 2-day celebration includes a Monster Mash Kids’ Halloween Party for kids and families as well as live music, street performers and more for adults. Hundreds of people dress in costume and take to the streets for the parade as they march thorough historic downtown. Enjoy the spectacle from the sidewalks or join in on the march. Whichever way, The Wild Rumpus sets out to amplify the massive display of creativity by its’ residents while supporting their self-expression in an inviting, and safe environment. AthHalf Health and Fitness Expo and half marathon

The 10th annual AthHalf Health and Fitness Expo and half marathon will take place on October 26 – 27. This 2-day event combines Athens’ love of music and art with its enthusiastic health community to raise funds and awareness for AthFest Educates, a nonprofit organization dedicated to music and arts education. This year's AthHalf course will include an exciting victory lap around the famous hedges of UGA's Sanford Stadium. With pace groups ranging from runners, to joggers, to walkers, this race is something any participant can enjoy no matter their speed. Spotlight of the Arts Festival

The arts at UGA will be spotlighted during a nine-day festival from November 6 - 17 when members of the UGA Arts Council will host events and activities that include concerts, theater and dance performances, art exhibitions, poetry readings, author panels and book signings, lectures and discussions on the arts and creativity, and more.
