Celebrate a decade of extraordinary songwriting at the 10th Anniversary Songwriter Awards, a milestone evening honoring the creative heartbeat of Athens. This special anniversary edition will feature an exclusive performance by Futurebirds, setting the stage for an unforgettable night of music, community, and storytelling.
To commemorate ten years of amplifying local voices, a new compilation album will be debuted, showcasing the past ten Vic Chesnutt Songwriter of the Year winners will be —a retrospective collection capturing the evolution and artistry that define Athens’ vibrant music culture. Established in 2016, the Vic Chesnutt Songwriter of the Year Awards were created to celebrate and elevate the diverse songwriting talent within the Athens community.
Named in honor of Vic Chesnutt, the internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter whose legacy continues to inspire, the awards recognize outstanding original work and provide meaningful support to emerging and established writers alike. Each year, finalists are honored with cash prizes and the winner receives $1,500 along with additional opportunities to promote their songwriting talent.
The award is presented by the Classic City Rotary in partnership with the Vic Awards Committee. This 10th anniversary celebration promises to be our most memorable yet—an evening that honors the past, elevates the present, and champions the future of Athens songwriting.
