Special Alert

2nd Anniversary Party for Southern Brewing

The Southern Brewing Company is celebrating thier second anniversary and they're throwing a party! Doors will open to the public at 3pm. It's a day full of live local music and the most insane beer list yet. This is a kid friendly, family friendly event and they'll have several local food trucks to choose from. DJOsmose will start at 3pm and will be spinning vinyl all day. Jay Gonzalez, guitarist and keyboard player for the [Drive-By] Truckers, will take the stage with his solo project at 6:30pm. Jay Gonzalez recently recorded a pop song cycle called 'The Bitter Suite and it's shares a kinship with the power pop of the mid-‘60s and ‘70s.

At 8pm they will welcome Five Eight. One of Southern Brewing's favorite bands from Athens, GA. Since February 2016 the band has been back in the studio and is near completion on its new album, tentatively entitled “Songs for Saint Jude.” (Saint Jude is the patron saint of lost causes and also figures prominently in the prayers and iconography of Dunn’s hometown of New Orleans.) They are working with producer and Athens based drummer Mike Albanese (Bit Brigade, Maserati, Cinemechanica) and expect an early fall release. The band is also working with Atlanta GA based filmmaker Marc Pilvinsky on a full-length documentary of their now 27-year career as one of the world’s least famous (but extremely popular to those in the know) accidental cult bands to ever come out of Athens GA.
