The ACLU invites community members, partner organizations, and media to attend their tour stop at Avid Bookshop on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 4-6pm to promote voter education. The event will feature a reading and community discussion about books that have been banned by local governments, featuring the author of banned book The ABCs of Queer History, Seema Yasmin, and content creator Jameelah Jones. Attendees will hear a panel discussion between Yasmin, Jones, free speech experts, and local influencers about why it’s important to protect the right to read, and have the opportunity to highlight their own favorite banned books.
