ATHICA’s early Summer exhibition "DELUGE" features the work of four artists united by the vision of curators Grace Bishop, Lauren Fancher, and Marcella Vlahos. The artists’ diverse approaches—ranging from figuration to abstraction and utilizing a broad palette of materials—create a dynamic visual dialogue. This exhibit honors their resilience, recognizing not only their survival in the face of natural disasters but also the broader challenges encountered by women and working artists.
Lori Brook Johnson explores both the physical and emotional impact of a devastating flood on her Western North Carolina community through figurative art. Ally Christmas uses symbolism and color to evoke internal emotional turbulence. Leah Mulligan Cabinum integrates collage and installation in a practice that reflects a continuous evolution of materials, ideas, and personal reflection. Mary Stuart Walker offers a more angular, urban perspective, reminiscent of cityscapes layered with maps of natural forces like water and fire.
Exhibit Hours:
Wed-Fri: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Sat: 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Sun: 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Third Thursday of the Month: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
