The Historic Athens Welcome Center invites the community to view its new exhibit "Emancipation to Integration: Black Education in Athens, Georgia" throughout the month of February in honor of Black History Month. The exhibit shares the remarkable stories of formerly enslaved people, local Black educators and students of the Reconstruction era, the first students and teachers to integrate Athens schools and the University of Georgia, and the legacy of Black education in Athens. During their visit, guests are welcome to also tour the c. 1820 Church-Waddel-Brumby House.
Regular Hours: Monday-Sunday 10 AM - 5 PM.
