The 18th annual Café Apollinaire showcase, produced by the Georgia Fine Arts Academy, will transform ATHICA into the café-lined streets of Paris where artists can gather and discuss their work. Named for poet and champion of the arts Guillaume Apollinaire, this "art-splosion" is hosted in memory of Bill Bray who founded the arts education nonprofit in 1980.
The evening will include many attractions such as looping artistry by Libbaloops, multifaceted performer Leslie Whitehead-O'Neal, and Sadie Hammond, delivering acoustic vocals with ukeluscious charm. Athens’ poet laureate Mikhayla Robinson Smith and author Colin Bishoff share bold new work. Theatre lovers will be treated to postmodernist monologues by Chris Pendry and Bowen Craig’s latest comedy directed by KAT Marie Mitchell, while film enthusiasts can look forward to short new films by Delaire Gackle and John Patrick Bray. Zack Jarrett will showcase his stunning visual art and animation, adding another dimension to this immersive celebration of creativity.
Refreshments will be available and donations are greatly appreciated. Generous Sponsors include Athentic Brewing Co., The Lark Winespace, The Waterman Spring Water, and ATHICA: Athens Institute for Contemporary Art.
