This free community training is being offered to honor Stonewall Day, a global campaign that elevates awareness for the Stonewall legacy and the continuing fight for inclusive LGBTQIA2S+ equity. This training is free and open to any community members in Athens and the surrounding area.
The training will cover gender affirming language, basic queer histories, introductions to intersectionality, terms, and basic knowledge concerning trauma responsive care and culturally affirming best practices. This training will help participants to better understand queer lived experiences in your home, workplace, and community!
The goal of this cultural humility training is to discuss and learn from one another about new ways to practice trauma responsive and culturally affirming care for a variety of individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, two spirit, and/or any identity related to queerness. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to speak directly with the facilitators of this training, please do not hesitate to reach out using the contact information below.
This training is for anyone interested in learning more about LGBTQIA2S+ populations and/or for those who desire to be advocates for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals (i.e. lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, two spirit, and/or any identity related to queerness). Anyone attending the training must be age 21 or older. The training will be followed by a Happy Hour Q&A and a screening of a documentary outlining the history of Stonewall hosted by Terrapin!
Your answers below are confidential and individual responses will not be provided to anyone other than the training facilitators, who you can learn more about at www.georgiaculturetherapy.org.
