This year’s Emerging Scholars Symposium will showcase research by current graduate students and other emerging scholars that explores art styles and movements from perspectives beyond art history’s well-established timelines and geographies. The symposium accompanies and is inspired by the exhibition “Beyond the Medici: The Haukohl Family Collection.” Just as the exhibition centers a localized corpus of art outside the principal story of baroque art, this symposium encourages scholars to do the same, rethinking the predominant art historical narratives around style, period, and geographic location. This program is presented in partnership with UGA’s Association of Graduate Art Students at the Lamar Dodd School of Art.
Keynote Lecture: Dr. Sheila Barker, Thursday, February 20, 5:30 p.m.
Graduate Student Sessions: Friday, February 21,
