Fluency Dawg-Gone Fast: Three Day Introduction to Mandarin

Join in this fast-paced introduction to Mandarin—the most-spoken language in the world and language of Yu Hua’s novel, “To Live.” Lead by Terry Waltz, expert in Mandarin and Total Physical Response Storytelling (TPRS), the course introduces participants to a new language teaching methodology aimed at promoting fluency fast.

Sponsored by the Willson Center and the UGA College of Education's Department of Language and Literacy Education, this immersive, three-class experience is aimed at beginners in the study of Mandarin (no previous experience necessary) as well as world language educators. We also welcome fluent Mandarin teachers to observe this practice and the speedy results.

Experience learning a new language as well as a new approach to language learning and teaching!

Surprise yourself by how much Mandarin you can learn in three days and by doing so, learn about a spirited new approach to teaching and learning world languages. Participants who attend all three days will receive a free copy of the award-winning book "To Live" by Yu Hua as part of the NEA Big Read program.
