Historic Athens presents an epic Mardi Gras party leading up to Fat Tuesday each year. Attendees can start out at Union Fare in downtown Athens for a VIP cocktail hour, featuring a signature cocktail and a local jazz band. Enjoy conversation and music in an elevated atmosphere in anticipation of the main event. At 7:00, VIP guests will participate in a brass band procession down Washington Street to the 40 Watt Club, where they will meet the general admission guests.
The main event begins at 7:00 PM and the brass band will continue playing on stage as the first local act, Mary and the Hot Hotty-Hots. Enjoy food from Athens’ Damn Good Food, plus local hors-d’oeuvres served courtesy of our town’s most iconic restaurants and chefs. There will be lively drag performances by the local Kourtesans. Dancefx’s Revolution dance company will perform as well. The Historic Athens Mardi Gras Court, picked from Athens’ culinary scene, will be crowned in front of the audience. Bichos Vivos will perform their show-stopping Brazilian dance music to close out the night.
