In a major move to bolster voter education, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) launched its Know Your Rights Bus Tour, a series of stops across several states to create an energizing community experience that combines entertainment and fun surprises with critical information about our most fundamental rights.
The Georgia leg of the ACLU’s Know Your Rights Bus Tour will be the ACLU and ACLU of Georgia’s most extensive, partnering with local, independent bookstores in three different cities to feature a reading and community discussion about books that have been banned by local governments, featuring the author of banned book The ABCs of Queer History, Seema Yasmin, and content creator Jameelah Jones. Attendees will hear a panel discussion between Yasmin, Jones, free speech experts, and local influencers about why it’s important to protect the right to read.
We have the right to learn — free from censorship and discrimination. Join us for a conversation about books that have been banned by local governments, featuring the author of banned book The ABCs of Queer History, Seema Yasmin and content creator Jameelah Jones. You’ll be able to highlight your favorite banned book, share space with other community members concerned with these issues, and enjoy fun surprises while supplies last. This event is free and open to the public.
