Squalls rocked the East coast and Midwest between 1981-89, played at the 40 Watt Club an incredible 64 times, and were featured in Athens, GA Inside-Out. In honor of a pair of album releases in 2022, original Squalls drummer Mark Cooper Smith helped Bob Hay (lead singer / main songwriter for Squalls) assemble a backing band —The Wild Jordan Tonk-Cats — to bring this music back to life. Original Squalls vocalist Diana Torell makes the lineup of Squalls-22 complete. Since the album release events, they have played some special shows delighting both old and new fans.
The Wild Jordan Tonk-Cats will open the show by performing danceable, soulful originals alongside a few favorite covers. The band includes a “Who’s Who” of veteran Georgia musicians: Tommy Jordan and William Tonks (Mr Jordan/Mr Tonks), Mark Cooper Smith (Squalls, Wildcats), Eddie Glikin (Klezmer Local 42), Greg Veale (Normaltown Flyers, Rick Fowler Band), Todd Burton (Wildcats), Neil Priest (Wildcats), and Dana Downs (Tone Tones, Go Van Go, Cosmo Jr).
