The 38th annual Twilight Criterium in downtown Athens is a professional cycling event and festival, tailored to be enjoyed by fans, families and racers alike. Twilight Criterium is a favorite spot on the national cycling tour circuit, both for its unique evening format and the large crowds that gather in Athens' vibrant downtown area.
Founded in 1980 by Gene Dixon, the Athens Twilight Criterium was the first nighttime race in the United States in over 60 years. What began as one race with 40 competitors has since grown to 150 competing cyclists.
Check back in April of 2017 for downtown street closures associated with the event.
