Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Sweat centers on a group of factory workers in Reading, Pennsylvania - a steel town in the heart of Rust Belt - as they face the impending reality of financial instability as a result of job outsourcing. Through a series of flashbacks in a local bar, Sweat contends with issues of race, immigration, and deindustrialization through the lives of these workers, culminating in an explosive finale that harrowingly portrays the effects of capitalism on the American working class.
