Athens Indoor Football Team, Coming Spring 2027

The new Athens Indoor Football League franchise brings IFL action to Akins Ford Arena in the heart of downtown Athens. The team’s inaugural season kicks off in spring 2027, featuring a fast-paced 16-game regular season with eight home games. Fans will experience high-energy indoor football and exciting family-friendly entertainment as professional indoor football arrives in Athens for the first time.
The ownership team includes:
- Jerome Bettis, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and Super Bowl champion widely regarded as one of the NFL’s all-time great running backs.
- Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons great Brian Jordan, who built a standout career as one of the nation’s most notable two-sport professional athletes, playing in both the NFL and Major League Baseball.
- David Pollack remains one of the most decorated defensive players in University of Georgia football history and later became a nationally recognized broadcaster.
