Bike Athens holds group rides the LAST Friday of each month. The rides start at 6:00 p.m. from City Hall (301 College Ave., Athens, GA 30601), and wind through Athens for 5-9 miles before ending at Little Kings Club to celebrate an exhilirating ride. The group rides are slow and easy; no one gets left behind!
The Bike Athens website is a great resource for local and visiting cyclists and includes a cycling events calendar and opportunities to meet up with other cyclists.
Bike Athens and the UGA Community Mapping Lab have created an interactive map of preferred biking routes in Athens. In addition to suggesting the best streets for bike riders, it also marks areas with steep inclines, transit stops, and local amenities. The map rates roads in four categories: Strongly preferred, Preferred, Use with caution, and Use only when necessary.
The mission of Bike Athens is to promote walking, cycling, and public transit as solutions to transportation needs in Athens through education, advocacy, and community service.
