Athens' only downtown park, the seven-acre Lay Park is equipped with a gymnasium, full-service kitchen, multi-purpose rooms, game room, fitness room, dance room, a library, arts and crafts room, picnic shelter, playground, and much more. The facility underwent a SPLOST-funded renovation in 2001 and 2002.
