The Athens Area Junior Golf Tour (AAJGT) is holding the Athens Classic at UGA, a GHSA-‐sanctioned high school golf tournament taking place on March 19, 2016 at the UGA Golf Course. The field will include 138 players making up 27 teams among multiple classifications—from A-‐Private to AAAAAA.

Boys and Girls teams from all over the state of Georgia are competing; with several Athens-‐area teams involved as well as teams from Metro Atlanta, North and South Georgia, Columbus, Augusta, and Gainesville. Athens Academy and North Oconee are serving as host schools. The event is being sponsored locally by National Scouting Report (www.nsr-‐inc.com).

Additionally, the UGA Office of Undergraduate Admissions is providing a packet of information to the visiting student-‐athletes and their parents; local Restaurants and hotels are involved as well to accommodate several out-‐of-‐town participants.

“We received tremendous response to the invitations right from the start, as we filled the event with 27
teams, with enough on a waiting list to add a 2nd event,” said AAJGT Executive Director Chris Manzi. “It just goes to show that teams are looking to compete in quality events at outstanding courses, and the attraction of the University of Georgia facility was certainly the primary draw in this case.”
