AthFest Educates announced the lineup for the 21st Annual AthFest Music and Arts Festival, taking place June 23rd- 25th in downtown Athens, with affiliated events starting June 21st.  The free festival includes three days of music on three outdoor stages.  After the free outdoor festival stages wrap up Friday and Saturday nights, the Club Crawl swings into full gear, with shows at a dozen plus local venues.

AthFest Music & Arts Festival kicks of Friday night, June 23rd at 5pm with Sam Burchfield, then Ruby The Rabbitfoot, Roadkill Ghost Choir, and Futurebirds on the main stage.  On the Creature Comforts Hull St. stage The Shutups start at 5:45pm, followed by Powerkompany, and Packway Handle Band.  The UpNext Showcase will take place from 6pm-9pm on the KidsFest stage, featuring music by Athens’ up and coming young artists, The Voltures, PV-23, The Kannons, and The Golden Beat. 

Saturday’s lineup on the main stage starts at noon with Nuclear Tourism, followed by Wanderwild, Walden, Natti Love Joys, Lullwater, Funk You, Super Yamba Band featuring the Reptar Horns, culminating with headliner Zoogma.  The Creature Comforts Hull Street stage will feature Casper & The Cookies, The Halem Albright Band, LIONZ, Partials, BlackNerdNinja and Von Grey. 

Sunday includes performances starting on the main stage at 12:30pm with The Salt Flats, Broken String Band, Rick Fowler Band featuring Beverly “Guitar” Watkins, Zach Deputy, Interstellar Boys, and Drivin’ N Cryin’.  The Creature Comforts Hull Street stage will open with the Athens Unsigned: Road to AthFest Winner, followed by The Vinyl Suns, Ty Manning, MrJordanMrTonks, and Five Eight. The KidsFest stage features performers for and by young people, Saturday from 10:30am-5:30pm, and Sunday from 1pm-5pm, featuring Rebecca Sunshine Band, The Varsity Band, Girls Rock Camp, Paco Marquez, PV-23, Allegro, Connor Byers, East Athens Dance Company, Athens School of Music, Drake School of Irish Dance, and Dance FX.

After the free outdoor festival stages close Friday and Saturday nights, the AthFest Club Crawl begins.  The Georgia Theatre lineup features Cindy Wilson (of the B-52’s), MOSAIC, DAISY, The Districts, The Orange Constant, Muuy Bien, Lilly Hiatt, Booty Boyz, The Arcs, Richard Lloyd (of TELEVISION), Neighbor Lady, Reverend Tribble and the Deacons, Material Girls, Quiet Hounds, and Midnight Snack.  

The 40 Watt lineup includes of Montreal, New Madrid, Bobby’s Shorts, Lingua Franca, and Pansy.  Foundry will host Six String Southern Presents: Country Music Showcase Friday night, and Athens Latin Presents Night on Saturday.  Ciné hosts Feather Trade, Harlot Party, Civils and Four Eyes on Friday night, and AthFactor brings the annual Hip Hop Showcase to Ciné on Saturday night.  Caledonia Lounge has T. Hardy Morris, Lazer/Wulf, Thayer Sarrano, Savagist, Grand Rapids, The Powder Room, Monsoon, Motherf#*$er, and Toro.  Live Wire Athens will host Polymath, The Georgia Flood, Redstone Ramblers, Universal Sigh and Robbie Dude.

A Club Crawl wristband gets attendees into over a dozen venues, and discounts at affiliated events.  Wristbands are on sale online here http://athfest.com/athfest-club-crawl-wristbands for $22 until May 31st, and then $25.  Wristbands can be purchased in advance online, or at Wuxtry Records, Low Yo Yo Stuff Records, Athens Welcome Center and Georgia Theatre, and during the festival at the merchandise table, or at the Club Crawl venues during the Club Crawl.  

AthFest Music & Arts Festival raises money for AthFest Educates, a nonprofit that advances high-quality music and arts education for local youth and the Athens community through direct support of school and community-based programs and events, including the annual music and arts festival.
