If you are looking to host an event in 2021 or 2022, now is the time to book! Don’t miss your opportunity to plan your conference, meeting, or wedding at our GBAC STARTM certified venue. At The Classic Center, our number one priority is the safety of our guests. We took our time in reopening so that we could be confident that every possible measure was being taken to safeguard our guests’ wellbeing, and we hope to see you soon.

At only 80 miles from the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Athens is easy to access and has everything you need to give your attendees a unique and convenient experience. With over 150 unique dining, shopping, and entertainment options in this vibrant, eclectic college town, planners can be creative and produce a meeting, conference, or convention that will be talked about for years. After a full day of excitement, your attendees can then rest easy at any of the more than 20 hotels just minutes from The Classic Center.

Your guests can feel safe in the highly sought-after community of Athens, Georgia with the Ready, Set, Go Safely initiative, a community campaign that encourages the creation of safety protocols and sanitization measures to reassure consumers. As a part of this effort, over 100 businesses in our community have committed to establishing and following protocol, monitoring distancing and capacity guidelines, following CDC standards for disinfecting, training employees on safety protocol, wearing face coverings, and welcoming patrons who are following guidelines, because we understand the importance of safety within our event venue, but also in our Ubers, restaurants, and hotels. Paul Cramer, President and CEO of The Classic Center, says, “We are taking these steps because when our patrons return to our building, we want them to feel welcomed, excited, and, most importantly, safe.”

We are thrilled to announce that our venue has achieved the GBAC STARTM facility accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a division of ISSA, which is the leading trade association for the cleaning industry worldwide, to prevent and respond to outbreaks. This certification is the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response, and recovery accreditation for facilities. The program offers training and assesses a facility’s readiness to handle biorisk situations so that consumers can enter accredited facilities with a sense of assurance.

As we have reopened in a cautious and phased manner, we have safely hosted a number of events with incredible feedback from planners and attendees alike. From socially distant live entertainment to hybrid conferences, we are fully equipped to provide a safe and enjoyable experience. Dr. Sherrie Gibney-Sherman, Superintendent of Foothills Education Charter High School and GSSA conference attendee, had this to say about her experience our facility, “This was the first in-person conference I have attended since March 13. I was a little uneasy attending. I was wrong. Your staff did an excellent job preparing your facility for this event. Everything was clearly spaced out and marked. Everything was clean. Food preparations and service honored CDC recommendations. Well done. You have many reasons to be proud. Thanks for making my first ‘return to in-person’ event safe.”
