ATHENS, GA (June 10, 2015) - The Hotel Indigo ® Athens Downtown - Univ Area is pleased to announce that it will be the host hotel for Rally North America's (RNA) Smoky Mountain Rally July 14-16, 2015. Founded in 2009, RNA is a scavenger hunt style, automotive, multi-state road rally event. RNA is a not-for-profit organization, aimed at bringing automotive enthusiasts from all over the United States and Canada, together for the purpose of auto rallying.

Athens, Georgia will be the starting line for the final day of the race located at West Washington Street between North Lumpkin and Pulaski Streets for the morning of Thursday July 16, 2015 from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Eighty cars from thirty-one states and three Provinces of Canada will participate in this three day, 1200 mile, scavenger hunt which will conclude later that evening in Savannah GA. Local community leaders in attendance at the starting line will include race Grand Marshall, Doc Eldridge, Tripp McKenney from the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau and Katie Beauchamp of local brewery, Creature Comforts Brewing Co. to give the drivers their starting orders.

As a LEED (The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certified hotel, Hotel Indigo Athens Downtown - Univ Area believes in reducing its carbon footprint and improving its environment for generations to come. The hotel is a Tesla EV (Electric Vehicle) charging station, and provides free charging to all hotel guests. In the spirit of the road race, the hotel will have a 2015 Telsa Model S P85 outfitted with all of the Rally decals on site for guests to experience first-hand.
