In an effort to further tourism development, the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) Office of Tourism Product Development offers project funding assistance for communities such as Athens who have completed the team review and recommendation process and begun implementation of strategies within their TPD report.
This funding partnership allows the local community to build new product resulting from the recommendations made by the team or projects the community has developed as an expansion of the original resource team report.
There are two (2) funding cycles available during 2019-2020. Funding amounts will vary over each funding cycle and are dependent on the final budget of GDEcD; the department reserves the right to refuse all grants.
The CVB encourages local Athens entities to apply.
We recommend that applicants first review the Athens-Clarke County local report, as well as the state grant application packet, then prepare the application in enough time to request that the CVB review the finished application before you submit to the state. We're happy to provide this support.

2019-2020 Funding Cycle I:
- Applications available: Thursday, April 11th, 2019
- Application Due Date: Thursday, June 27th, 2019
- Grant Amount: Up to $10,000
- Recipients Notified: September 2019
- Project Completion Deadline: Friday, June 12th, 2020
- Final Project Report Deadline: Friday, June 19th, 2020
2019-2020 Funding Cycle II:
- Applications available: Thursday, September 12th, 2019
- Application Due Date: Thursday, December 12th, 2019
- Grant Amount: Up to $5,000
- Recipients Notified: January 2020
- Project Completion Deadline: Friday, June 12th, 2020
- Final Project Report Deadline: Friday, June 19th, 2020
