Summer was made for outdoor concerts – and so were the amphitheater and terraced lawns in the Flower Garden of the State Botanical Garden of Georgia at the University of Georgia. Now in its 17th season, the Sunflower Music Series has placed both world-renowned and new-on-the-scene musicians in a world-class botanical environment.
June 12: Abbey Road LIVE! has been rocking the music of the Beatles at clubs, theatres, festivals, and private events. Initially a tribute to the monumental "Abbey Road" album, the band has expanded its scope to include more than 100 Beatles tunes, from all eras of the Fab Four's career. The band specializes in complete, start-to-finish album performances of masterpieces such as "Abbey Road", "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band".
July 24: Klezmer Local 42- It didn’t take the band long to realize that they were far too twisted to just play traditional klezmer. They couldn’t refrain from incorporating other influences into their music including Classic Rock, swing, hip-hop, pop radio hits, tangos, and sea shanties. They sing in Yiddish, Hebrew, English, French, Spanish and Pirate-Talk. They also have a penchant for playing movie theme songs. Klezmer Local 42 has enjoyed a strong regional following, playing Bar Mitzvah’s, weddings, festivals and clubs and have toured nationally and internationally.
August 25: Chickasaw Mudd Puppies- Genre: Swamp Stomp, Backwoods Boogie
September 25: Randall Bramblett- Randall is a perfect example of the exceptional quality of musicians born and raised in the South. Born in Jesup, Georgia and living in Athens, Georgia, he’s been on big stages since the 1970’s and still going strong. He landed on the speed dial of some of the greatest names in rock history, including Steve Winwood/Traffic (16 years), Levon Helm, Warren Haynes, Delbert McClinton. He’s certainly still well sought after – recently he’s been found playing with Steve Winwood at The Fox Theater, Atlanta, Widespread Panic at Lockn’ , The Allman Brothers at the Beacon Theater, on a CD and tour with Bonnie Raitt, and the Warren Haynes Xmas Jam.
