“Architecture of Imagination,” the new mural on the Foundry Street parking deck (adjacent to the new Akins Ford Arena) has been completed!

"Architecture of Imagination” will be a largescale mural inspired by architecture and geometry. Lewis’ design was chosen in a blind selection by a community panel. The artist was one of 97 applicants who submitted during the nationwide call for art. The Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission approved the design, along with two other artworks for the arena, in November 2022.

Kate Lynn Lewis is a South Florida and Chicago based artist, focused on large scale mural installations and illustrative design work. Her style is best recognized by clean and hard lines, bold colors, and emphasis on “impossible architecture” inspired by artists like MC Escher & Oscar Reutersvard. Lewis’ paintings can be found throughout the US, in and outside of municipal structures, arenas, offices, restaurants, and residences, as well as collaborations with notable brands.
