- (706) 389-5151
The Carter-Coile Country Doctors Museum is housed inside an 1874 doctor's office and gives a glimpse into 19th century rural medicine. Here, Dr. Warren Carter practiced medicine from 1874 until his death in 1908. In 1920, Dr. Frank Coile moved his practice into the building. This doctor's office became a museum in 1972 and is a place to explore the role that medicine has historically played in rural American communities.
The collection includes a wide variety of medical artifacts. Outside, a botanical medicine garden helps tell the story of how plants were used medicinally.
