Five & Ten

Two time James Beard Award- winning chef Hugh Acheson burst onto the national food scene in the early 2000's with his flagship Athens restaurant, 5&10, which ushered in a golden age of dining in the town that continues decades later.

In 2024, 5&10 alumni and Athens native Peter Dale purchased the restaurant from Hugh. Peter's stated goal: to "honor this rich legacy and many favorite dishes, while also continuing to define modern Southern cuisine."

Hours have also expanded! 5&10 is now open every night of the week, including Sunday.

Since 2013, 5&10 has been located in the beautiful and historic Hawthorne House, built by architect Fred Orr in the early twentieth century. The original home was left mostly untouched, although a kitchen was added to the back of the building. There are many dining rooms, a spacious bar, a coffee bar, as well as patio seating at the new location.

Five & Ten Updates:

New Sunday Menu and hours! In place of 5&10's regular Monday-Saturday menu, Sundays now features a menu inspired by the vibrant flavors of contemporary Mexican cuisine, highlighting seasonal ingredients. Crafted by Chef Fausto Zamorano, who brings the essence of Mexico City to every dish, the menu will showcase elevated snacks, small plates, entrées, and a unique weekly dessert.

The bar opens early, at 3 PM, offering a selection of snacks and our full beverage list, including Mexican beer, and a variety of tequila and mezcal cocktails.

Reservations encouraged, walk-ins welcome.  Please note, the Monday-Saturday 5&10 menu will not be available on Sundays.  

EVENT PLANNERS: 

The restaurant offers parking and space for private events. 

Reservations can be made for private parties such as bridal luncheons, business meetings, corporate luncheons, or cocktail parties during the day or night.
