The Spirit of Athens Sculpture

"The Spirit of Athens," on the grounds of City Hall, was sculpted by William J. Thompson, was dedicated in 1996 to commemorate the Atlanta Olympics torch run and events held in Athens. The inscription at the base of the statue reads: 'Endeavoring to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. -- Ephesians 4:3"
The Athens Rotary Foundation and other local benefactors made this sculpture possible.
