The Athens Area Humane Society announces their 7th annual Charity Chili Cook-off at Terrapin Beer Company on Friday, September 9th from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. In addition to the chili cook off, in which local charities compete for a $300.00 grand prize, there will be live music by Lily Rose and a selection of adoptable puppies.

The $10.00 donation to AAHS is for unlimited chili samples and includes a vote for the best chili. Tickets can be purchased at Terapin Beer Company day of event. The beer tasting at Terrapin is a separate $12.00 ticket and includes a special commemorative glass. Terrapin will donate a percentage from the beer/glass sales to AAHS. This event is open to all ages. However, patrons must be 21 and over to purchase a tasting glass at Terrapin. This event will take place rain or shine.

Participating non-profits include: Oconee Regional Humane Society, AIDS Athens, Butterfly Dreams Farm, Athens Pets, Children First Inc., Oconee River Land Trust, Athens Area Diaper Drive, MOAS and Prevent Child Abuse Athens. There are still more slots open for an entry fee of $25.00.

The Athens Area Humane Society is a donor supported no-kill, non-profit organization dedicated to lowering area euthanasia rates through adoption, spay/neuter, and pet retention programs. AAHS operates a low cost spay/neuter facility that is open to the public Monday through Thursday. The adoption center is open seven days a week.
