The Marigold Auditorium for Arts and Culture (MAAC) is a performance venue located in the Winterville historic district. The MAAC offers state-of-the-art lighting, audio, and projection capabilities, seating for 250 people, and serves as a performance venue for theatrical productions, music groups, weddings, corporate events, and Winterville Marigold Festival events.
Built in 1953, the Auditorium was used by the community for concerts, plays, pageants and other public functions until 2002, after which it fell into disrepair. In 2017, the City of Winterville was awarded two restoration grants – a $10,000 grant from the Watson Brown foundation Junior Board to pay for electrical services and a $55,476 grant from the Fox Theatre Institute (FTI) to replace the roof and the HVAC systems. The FTI awarded the City of Winterville $47,500 in 2018 to help pay for a wall separating the seating area from the lobby, a sound and light booth and state-of-the-art sound, lighting and projection systems.
