UGArden
- 2510 S. Milledge Avenue, Athens, GA 30602
UGArden is a student-powered teaching farm at the University of Georgia dedicated to cultivating a sustainable food system through education, service, and community engagement. Founded in 2010, the farm offers hands-on learning in organic agriculture, composting, and small-scale entrepreneurship. Students participate in growing produce and herbs, managing compost systems, and running UGArden Herbs, a student-led herbal product line. The farm also serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research and hosts classes, workshops, and volunteer opportunities. In 2022, UGArden produced over 14,000 pounds of fresh produce, much of which was distributed to local families facing food insecurity through partnerships with organizations like Campus Kitchen and Fresh Express. UGArden continues to grow as a model for experiential learning and community impact.
