ATHENS RESTAURANT WEEK

GOING ON NOW!

We are in the midst of the first-ever Athens Restaurant Week and we hope you have been dining out on delicious specials all week. If not -- what are you waiting for? There's still time to get in on the fun. Restaurant Week runs through this Saturday, July 17.

The CVB is aggressively advertising Athens Restaurant Week locally and into our drive market.

Participating restaurants are listed at www.AthensRestaurantWeek.com and all advertising for the event directs to that web page.

Sales Updates

The CVB and The Classic Center hosted meeting planners from the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) & Georgia EMC for Topgolf Live at Sanford Stadium, June 26th. Top Golf Live was an excellent opportunity for Athens' CVB and convention center to cooperatively promote Athens as a top destination for meetings and conventions.

(L-R): Lauren Dodson (Georgia EMC), Shaun Dodson, Tanya Anderson (GHSA), Kip Burdette, Penny Pitts Mitchell (GHSA), Jay Boling (CVB), Elyse Harris (Classic Center)

MUSIC & EVENTS ARE BACK!

Athens is definitely feeling, looking, and sounding a lot more like Athens lately! Aubrey Entertainment has booked Southern Brewing Co. solid with music on these warm summer nights (like Wonderland Rangers, July 22, pictured right) and venues like the Georgia Theatre, UGA Performing Arts Center and The Classic Center have an impressive lineup of entertainment ready to unleash this fall.

We're also excited about the return of our favorite annual events, like Twilight Criterium, Classic City Beer Fest, AthFest, PorchFest, and Wild Rumpus! All are happening in this year in August, September, or October.

BY THE NUMBERS: over 100 new events have been added to the VisitAthensGA.com/events calendar in the past month!

DON'T MISS OUT:

  • Submit your upcoming events through our Partner Extranet to get free exposure through VisitAthensGA website, social, and media outreach.
  • Sign up for our ATHblast monthly event newsletter.

RECOVERY CAMPAIGNS

With help from a matching Tourism Recovery Marketing Grant and matching co-op programs from Explore Georgia, the state tourism office within the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), the Athens CVB is investing in advertising for leisure travel and the meetings market. We are seeing great exposure and engagement metrics from the first month of the first campaign and look forward to reporting on the full program.
