What better way to enjoy the mild spring weather than to dine al fresco? Athens has some amazing tables with a view, whether it is lovely scenery or all-around great people watching. Check out these Athens restaurants with great outdoor dining.

Ted's Most Best

From the people who brought you Athens' landmark restaurant The Grit, Ted's Most Best is a local favorite for pizza and casual Italian fare. Previously a tire storage garage, the renovated restaurant features a spacious outside patio, sand box for the kids, and bocce ball court. Stop by to enjoy artisan pizzas, salads, paninis, and an excellent selection of beer and wine.

Cali N Tito's

Cali N Tito

The long line out the door attests to this restaurant's popularity with both Athens locals and visitors. Cali N Tito's serves up authentic Latin American fare, with fish tacos that those in the know go back for again and again. Its expansive outdoor patio provides authentic atmosphere to go with the authentic food.

Big City Bread

Big City Bread

Big City Bread's outdoor courtyard is the perfect place to grab a bite and enjoy Athens' laid back atmosphere under a canopy of trees. This family-run café serves up warm and inviting American fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast and lunch are informal, so bring a book to read or a group of friends. Dinner is more formal with cloth napkins and wine. I highly recommend checking out their fresh baked bread and pastry selection.

Heirloom Café

Heirloom Cafe exterior w Truck

Heirloom Café is a farm-to-table café and market that serves lunch and dinner seven days a week, plus brunch on the weekends. The neighborhood restaurant is located in a former Amoco service station on the corner of North Chase St. and Boulevard and serves a wide variety of dishes prepared from local, seasonal ingredients. Sitting under their pergola, wrapped in ivy and string lights, is truly magical. The Love on a Biscuit brunch special is a hidden gem that should not be missed.

Georgia Theatre Rooftop

Georgia Theatre Rooftop

The rooftop restaurant at Georgia Theatre offers amazing views of Athens with open railings facing both South towards campus and East towards downtown. Open for lunch and dinner, the roof is a great place to hear a show, have a sandwich, see a view, and meet friends. During the day, the roof is ideal for business meetings or for just grabbing a quick lunch with a friend.

Pulaski Heights BBQ

Pulaski Heights BBQ Patio

Pulaski Heights BBQ is a locally owned restaurant, specializing in barbecue and smoked meats. Chef Chuck Ramsey (former 5 & 10) does a stellar job with smoked meats, creative sides, smoked tofu, brisket chili and more. This is a must-do for train buffs, as the patio is situated next to the main train line that runs through Athens. PHBBQ is also a great place to bring kids, as they are encouraged to cover the patio in sidewalk chalk!

Viva! Argentine Cuisine

Bottleworks Patio

Viva! features a number of authentic Argentine dishes, many of which are from Chef Gaby Lindsey’s mother, with mild to moderate adaptations. For those who think Argentina is all about meat, guess again. Viva! has a number of vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as many gluten free options that will please even the most finicky diner. The restaurant is located in the Bottleworks shopping center, so you can dine on the patio next to Prince Avenue.
