Spring is in full swing! The weather is balmy, the trees are blooming, and there is an abundance of spring festivals in Athens to enjoy. April is a huge month for the Classic City with festivals and celebrations being held every weekend. We can't think of a better way to celebrate spring than attending some of the many festivals that Athens, Georgia has to offer!

March 31 - April 2, 2016: The first festival in April is Slingshot Athens Music & Arts Festival that is set to take over more than five city blocks and dozens of venues. This festival brings together all different types of creative expression in one place. Expect to see local, national and international artists in music, comedy, electronic art and film.

April 9, 2016: The weekend of April 9th is jammed packed with events! It features two different festivals going on at the same time. Take a trip around the world without ever setting foot outside of Athens with the UGA International Street Festival. Boasting a yearly attendance of 3,000 - 5,000 and dozens of UGA international student and community organizations sponsoring the event, this festival has been an Athens favorite for more than 30 years!

Also be sure not to miss Plantapalooza! on April 9. Participants can purchase a vast assortment of plants at three separate locations. The sale will feature both local favorites and difficult-to-find plants. Plantapalooza will take place at the State Botanical Garden, the Trial Gardens at UGA, and the UGA Horticulture Club.

April 10, 2016: After attending both festivals on April 9, stay the night because the 21st Annual Classic City Brew Fest will take place the next day. Sip on an abundance of an estimated 350 rare, regional and world craft beers! Attendees can also take a Terrapin Beer Co. tour and partake in countless restaurant tastings, all while enjoying live music in good company. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Athens-Area Humane Society. So make sure you come enjoy a cold one for a good cause!

April 16, 2016: Be sure to take advantage of the 23rd Annual Piedmont Gardeners Tour which features access to five local, private gardens. It is the perfect way to spend an afternoon and get outdoors to explore these hidden gems. The event will be hosted rain or shine and all proceeds go towards a scholarship fund for UGA students studying horticulture or other related fields.

April 23, 2016: The 40 Watt Club will host the 15th Annual FLUKE Mini-Comics Festival. FLUKE prides itself on not being the standard, large comic convention and merchandising event, but rather an intimate venue for the discussion and exchange of mini-comic, magazine and independent publishing information. So bring some friends and enjoy this unique Athens experience!
