Spring is in full swing! The air is starting to get that touch of spring warmth, the trees are blooming, and there is an abundance of spring festivals in Athens to enjoy. March, April, and May are huge months for the Classic City with festivals and celebrations being held nearly every weekend. We can't think of a better way to celebrate spring than attending some of the many festivals that Athens, Georgia has to offer!  

March 2024 Events

March 30, 2024

  • FLUKE is a mini-comic festival that has been organized by Athens-area comic artists, underground publishers and their enthusiasts since 2002. Conceived as a venue for the discussion and exchange of timely ideas related to mini-comics, zines and other independent publications, FLUKE is not a large comic convention or merchandising-saturated extravaganza, instead focusing on work and ideas rather than merchandising.  The festival is held at the 40 Watt and has no admission charge.  

 

April 2024 Events

April 6, 2024:  

  • Celebrate Halloween in Spring! HauntFest April Ghouls is a haunt/horror/Halloween festival celebrating the horror arts through live music, art vendors, themed entertainment, and activities. Perfect for oddity lovers and Halloween enthusiasts. In addition, there will be trivia, costume contests, s'mores, spooky story readings, and, of course, trick-or-treating!
  •  Take a trip around the world, right in the heart of downtown Athens with the UGA International Street Festival.  Boasting a yearly attendance of 3,000 - 5,000 and dozens of UGA international student and community organizations sponsoring the event, this festival has been an Athens favorite for more than 30 years! 

 

April 12, 2024:

  • The Georgia Rodeo is back! The Georgia Rodeo is an incredible one-day music festival in Athens, GA focused around an all-star music lineup. And yes, there will also be a Nationally Sanctioned Rodeo happening, as well! Country music fans young and old—from anywhere and everywhere—are welcome to enjoy the rodeo, tailgate, and concert. Those who only want to attend the concert are welcome to show up later in the day after the rodeo portion is over. 

 

April 13, 2024: 

The UGA football team runs out onto the field at Sanford Stadium.

  • Longing for fall days between the hedges?  Cheer on the DAWGS and get an exclusive look at the recruiting class at G-Day, the UGA Spring Football Game.  Whether you are cheering for red or black,  Dawgs win!  Tickets are $5.

 

April 20, 2024: 

  •  Head to Southern Brewing Co. for the 3rd annual Spring Athens Blues, Brews, and BBQ Festival  outdoor festival featuring 6 bands, great beers and BBQ food trucks! Tickets at $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

April 21, 2024:

  • Don't miss The Classic Center Cultural Foundation's second annual Athens Beer Fest. Athens Beer Fest carries on the legacy of the original Classic City Brew Fest, one of the southeast’s longest-running and most popular festivals. Kick off the spring season by sampling the latest and greatest beers from some of your favorite regional breweries. Grab a glass, pull up a chair, sit back, and enjoy an afternoon of live music, food trucks, and more!

April 26-27, 2024

  • The Twilight Criterium, now in its 38th year, attracts 150 eager cyclists from around the world and is a top stop on the national cycling tour circuit! As a fan favorite for its unique evening format in downtown Athens, large, energetic crowds are sure to gather. Not only will bikers be able to test their stamina and find the challenge they seek, but various races and kid-friendly events will keep supporters, families and racers entertained.
  • Get ready to groove and make memories at the electrifying 2nd annual Normaltown Music Festival, brought to you by Athens Resonates, Aubrey Entertainment, and Athentic Brewing! Saturday, April 27th, will be a day packed with phenomenal tunes and good vibes, all in support of Nuci's Space and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Athens.

May 2024 Events

May 4-5, 2024:

  • Indie South's warm-weather modern makers market, the Indie South Springtacular, returns for 2024. Shop local for Mother's Day and Graduation with 100+ artists, makers and vintage curators. Food trucks, music and good times!
  • Every year on the first Saturday in May, the West Broad Farmers' Market hosts their annual May Day Celebration. May Day marks the changing of the seasons, and they invite you to celebrate with them through music, festivities, and of course, the maypole dedication in the garden! They will have plenty of talented farmers, gardeners, artists, and other local vendors, so this is a great opportunity to shop locally for your Mother’s Day gifts!
