The Star Spangled Classic Firework Celebration

The fun starts on Saturday, July 1 when the skies over historic downtown Athens light up with an extraordinary display of lights and colors. The Star Spangled Classic Firework Celebration is a staple of summer life in Athens. The event kicks off around 5 p.m. with live music performed by Cosmic Charlie along with food trucks and children's activities on Washington Street and College Avenue. All this leads up to the fireworks at 9:30 p.m so be sure to get a good spot to watch the show!

 

Southern Fireworks Extravaganza

Southern Fireworks ExtravaganzaBut wait, there's more! Athens fireworks don't start and end with downtown. Also on Saturday, July 1, you can head to Southern Brewing Company for an all-American celebration with craft beer and the Fuse Brothers' pyrotechnic show. Tickets are $20 per person and the fireworks show begins after final call. 

 

Classic City American Music FestivalClassic City Music Festival

On Sunday, July 2, you'll want to be at the Foundry for the Classic City American Music Festival.This family-friendly all-day event will feature multiple music acts, including Cortez Garza, the North Georgia Bluegrass Band, Drew Kohl, Caleb Caudle, and ending the night with the Packway Handle Band. With a new group playing every hour, this is an Athens music event that you don't want to miss! Tickets cost $10 (plus fees) for advance payment, $15 at the door, $10 for college students, and is free for children under 12 (with a paid general admission adult ticket). BBQ and food will also be served, making it the ultimate Athens GA Fourth of July celebration.

 

Gyroscope House Debut at World of Wonder PlaygroundGyroscope House

The fun continues on Tuesday, July 4 itself-- Athens GA's huge and amazing playground, the World of Wonder, is celebrating a new public art piece. Not just any public art, this Gyroscope House was built specifically to be played in! The art launch begins at 9 a.m. and will include free snacks, face painting, chalk art, and a brief introduction from the artist. Bring the whole family for a fun morning activity. We know the World of Wonder will be your family's new favorite spot.
