Classic City American Music Festival
On Saturday, July 2, you'll want to be at Southern Brewing Company for the Annual Classic City American Music Festival. This family-friendly event will kick off at 1 p.m., with doors at 12 p.m. The day will feature multiple musical acts, including the Grassland String Band, Norma Rae, Dom Flemons and Hibbs Family Band. With a new group playing every hour, this is an Athens music event that you don't want to miss! Tickets cost $12 before June 20, $15 at the door and the event is free for children under 12 (with a paid general admission adult ticket). BBQ will also be served, and of course, Southern Brewing Company beer will be flowing, making it the ultimate Athens Fourth of July celebration.
Plus, you can kick off your journey down the Athens Beer Trail by grabbing a passport at the bar and getting your first stamp. Visit all six breweries to win an Athens Beer Trail glass!
The Star-Spangled Classic Firework Celebration
Come celebrate 246 years of American independence! The fun starts on Saturday, July 2nd when the skies over Athens-Ben Epps Airport light up with an extraordinary display of lights and colors. The Star-Spangled Classic is a staple of summer life in Athens. The event kicks off around 9:30 p.m., and the display will be viewable from many locations around the Lexington Road, Cherokee Road and Gaines School Road intersection as well as two field parking locations provided by Athens-Clarke County near the airport and at Satterfield Park. These locations will open at 7:00 p.m. Come on out and get your yearly dose of dazzling fireworks!
