On Sunday, January 21, Athens-Clarke County received a 2018 Live, Work, Play City Award presented by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA), in conjunction with Georgia Trend magazine, during GMA’s annual Mayors’ Day conference in Atlanta.

There were a total of nine cities in three population categories – small (population under 4,999), medium (5,000-24,999) and large (more than 25,000) – that received this year’s award. These cities will be featured in the February 2018 issue of Georgia Trend.

The Classic Center was recently chosen as one of 85 recipients for the Northstar Meetings Group’s 2017 Stella Awards. The Stella Awards recognize organizations in various categories and regions from around the globe that consistently deliver quality service and innovation to meeting and event professionals. The Classic Center was chosen as the winner for the Southeast.

The University of Georgia Performing Arts Center has announced the roster of artists for 2017-2018, a season that will showcase “The Three Bs Plus One.”

“Music lovers know Bach, Beethoven and Brahms as ‘The Three Bs.’ For many people, they are the greatest of all classical music composers,” said George C. Foreman, director of the Performing Arts Center.
