Traveling can be difficult when you have a four-legged companion. Luckily, Athens makes it easy to bring your dog along! With pet friendly attractions, hotels, and restaurants, you won't have to compromise on the quality of your experience when you bring your dog to Athens, GA.
Here are four reasons you won't want to leave your dog at home:
1. Tons of pet friendly hotels
Athens has tons of pet friendly hotels where you and your dog can have a relaxing and comfortable stay. Graduate Athens, Hotel Indigo, and Best Western are just a few hotels where dogs are allowed for a small fee. These hotels also put you in close walking distance to downtown Athens, where you can enjoy the pet friendly dining and shopping options listed below! Check out our page here for more pet friendly hotel options.
2. Great parks for exploring
Athens offers almost twenty acres of off-leash areas for you and your pet to explore. Memorial Park, Southeast Clarke Park, North Oconee River Greenway, and Sandy Creek Park are my favorite places to bring my dog when I start getting cabin fever. Bring a book and relax by the lake at Sandy Creek, or take your dog on an enchanting run through the Greenway.
3. Lots of restaurants with dog-friendly patios
Athens has pet friendly dining options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Head down to Heirloom Cafe, The Grit, or Big City Bread for a laid-back brunch, or BYOB to Pulaski Heights BBQ or Cali N Tito's to lunch like a local. You can even bring your dog along for a drink with friends at The Old Pal, Walker's Cafe and Pub, or Hendershot's.
4. Pet friendly shopping
More and more downtown shops are adopting pet friendly policies, so you and your dog can shop until you drop. Begin your shopping excursion at Encore for flirty, bright clothing and then head to Native American Gallery for a variety of hand-crafted jewelry.
