AMP IT UP ATHENS COMING TO AVALON IN ALPHARETTA, MAY 18

Enjoy a full day of authentic Athens fun for the whole family. Athens attractions will take over The Plaza with delicious pop-ups and family-friendly activities. See music memorabilia from the Georgia Music Hall of Fame collection, headed to the new Classic Center Arena, and have some off-season hockey fun with players who will compete in the new Arena. Cap off a vibrant day of Athens’ culture with a live music concert in the evening. With so much to do, you'll be itching to get to Athens this summer!

Sample Athens' renowned craft beer scene from noon to 7:30pm. Grab a refreshing brew from one of our six distinct breweries and get a jolt of Athens straight to your taste buds! You can practically travel the Athens Beer Trail without taking a step, trying beers from Terrapin Beer Co., Creature Comforts, Athentic Brewing Company, Normaltown Brewing Co., Akademia Brewing Company, and Southern Brewing Company.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is bringing seed packs for the whole family. The garden is 313 acres of gardens, trails, and a conservatory that you can visit in Athens, Ga, free of charge. Check out the Alice H. Richards Children's Garden for especially family-friendly activities and playscapes. 

Art abounds in Athens, from public art like murals and sculptures (including locally painted bulldog statues dotting the streets) to museums and galleries. We're bringing that artsy community straight to you! Enjoy activities from Georgia Museum of Art like button making and artist trading cards, a live, interactive mural, and face painting.

The Athens food scene has absolutely flourished in recent years. With Pete Amadhanirundr of Puma Yu's recently named a semifinalist for a James Beard Award Best Chef, Southeast and Kenny Nguyen of The Expat competing on Top Chef, there are plenty of reasons for a foodie to wander the streets of the Classic City. At Amp it Up Athens, check out the delicious taste of Athens with coffee samples from Jittery Joes and chocolate making from Condor Chocolates.

As the sun begins to set, cap off a day of exploration and excitement with a live music concert that celebrates the soulful sounds of Athens. AD Blanco takes the stage at 6pm, followed by Hotel Fiction at 7pm!
